The year 2020 was very upsetting for all of the sports fans as major sports tournaments were postponed including the men’s cricket T20 world cup. The year 2021 is a big joy for the cricket crazy fans as the T20 world cup is scheduled in it. The venue of this year’s cricket world cup in the United Arab Emirates where 12 teams divided into two groups will battle to win the title of the T20 world cup.

The T20 world cup was held after two years unlike the ODI World Cup occur after 4 years. A total of 12 teams will participate with the top 10 teams qualify directly and the other associate teams encounter each other to qualify for the super 12.

Host of T20 Cricket World Cup 2021

The 7th Edtion of T20 World Cup was decided to be played at Australia in 2020 but due to Covid ICC postponed its all major tournaments. Later in the ICC meeting, it was decided India will host the men’s T20 WC but the grave concern of the covid pandemic the venue was shifted to UAE and Oman and all arrangments will be done by BCCI. The next edition 2022 world cup will be hosted by the Australian Cricket board

Format of the T20 World Cup 2021

The World T20 is a title every team wanted to achieve and surprisingly every time a new team emerges victorious. The 7th T20 World Cup is divided into two rounds. In the first round, the associate teams encounter each other for the qualifier. The two teams among both groups will qualify for the Super 12. Super 12 is a competitive knockout-style tournament with two groups each with 6 teams that will show their strength and only the top two teams from both groups will qualify for the semi-finals. The format is quite competitive and each team must have to show their best performance to win the cricket title.

The T20 cricket world cup opening ceremony will be on 17th October and Sri Lanka will face Ireland In the very first encounter. The closing ceremony will be on 14th November and the two best teams battle each other to carry the title of T20 world cup winner. An exciting fact about the T20 World Cup is that only West Indies has retained the title twice and astonishingly teams like Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa are yet to win the T20 World Cup-winning title.
